A substation in India

Greetings from India. Our Team’s journey to Delhi was quite eventful. We flew from Nairobi to Dubai and then took another flight from Dubai to Delhi. We were left dumbfounded by the mega size of the Dubai International Airport which is almost 20 times the size of our JKIA! We were all very excited, it was adventurous and exciting since it was a maiden flight for most of us in the team. Since we landed, we are fine and on behalf of the team, I would like to confirm that we are also doing fine trying to cope with the culture shock that has engulfed us since our arrival.

We arrived at Delhi at 1230 pm local time and were warmly welcomed by the Power Grid officials at the Indira Gandhi International Airport despite the soaring temperatures of 36 degrees celcius and the high humidity. Upon arrival the team was taken to the Powergrid Corporation’s field hostels at Gurgoan, Sector 46 in Haryana state where we had some snacks with a short briefing of the environment by Mr. V.K Singh the facilitator of the entire training.

We are currently attending very tight scheduled sessions at the Powergrid Multipurpose Hall. Once we settle down, we will get back to you with more information on our training and our experiences. We have also visited a few recreational and historical sites like the famous Qutab Minar in Delhi during the free time on weekends.
